Thankful for Our Generous Team!

By November 24, 2020 No Comments

As Thanksgiving grows closer, we are reminded how thankful we are for the great group of people who work at Garco. Our staff from job sites and the office collected food and cash donations to help support the Gonzaga Prep Food Drive. For decades, Gonzaga Preparatory School has organized one of the largest holiday food drives in the Inland Northwest. Together with students, parents, faculty, staff, and community members, they collect more than 100,000 pounds of food annually, feeding and sustaining those in our community who are most in need.

This year, Gonzaga Preparatory will support 200 families, two Native American tribes, and the Second Harvest Food Bank. The contributions to this drive ā€“ in food and finance ā€“ help to interrupt an otherwise vicious cycle of poverty and offer something hopeful in a year that has been like no other in recent times. This giving of time, resources, and prayer, help to fill the hearts and bodies of neighbors near and far. Deliveries are being made to families Tuesday 11/24 and Wednesday 11/25 for Thanksgiving meals and other contributions were given to Second Harvest Food Bank to utilize and distribute.

The Garco team was able to collect $1,590, and Garco President Clancy Welsh offered to match all staff donations, resulting in a total of $3,180 worth of food! Garco CFO Jeff Hooper took a basket full of food donations from the office down to the food drive in addition to the funds collected to purchase food. Garco Project Manager Rob Decker also went and purchased food that was directly dropped off to the school as well. In total, we estimate more than 2,500 pounds of food donated between all of our team. (Just some of that is pictured here.)

Thank you to our staff who donated food or funds to support the Gonzaga Prep Food Drive – each and every donation makes a difference. Likewise, thank you to our clients, partners and community for making the continued success of our company possible which allows us to support our community in ways like this.

We would like to give a special shout out to the following team and staff that were able to give $50 or more to the Food Drive:

  • John Mclean
  • Rob Decker
