*** Edited:  As of Wednesday, March 11, 2020 the parade has been canceled due to precautions regarding the coronavirus. We hope that next year will be twice as fun and are looking forward to 2021!***

Garco is gearing up for the annual Spokane St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 14 at Noon in downtown Spokane. (See parade map here.) We can’t wait to show our spirit and share some fun handouts!
This year we also had the pleasure of sponsoring the “School on Parade” with the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. Area fourth-grade students compete by writing Irish-themed essays to earn their school a special place of honor in the parade as well as a $1,000 donation to their school.
The theme of this year’s essays was: You are walking home from school and you catch a leprechaun who grants you three wishes … what would your wishes be? The winning essay was written by Casey Hughes from All Saints Catholic School. Casey’s wishes from the leprechaun included money for her school, to be in the parade and a helper for her parents.

For my third wish I said … “I know. I would like for my parents to get a little helper so they cannot be working all the time.” After he (the leprechaun) disappeared I was so amazed.”

Congratulations Casey and All Saints School!

We hope to see everyone at the parade – rain or shine.
