Project Update: SVFD Training Facility

Anticipated Completion: August 2024

Project Summary:

This project is a 14,000 SF training center for the Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD). They will be training firefighters here, holding graduation ceremonies, and will also house admin support staff. There’s one large classroom with an operable partition that will split it into two classrooms when needed. There are seven offices and a large conference room, as well as an exercise room and locker rooms for men and women. The building also has a large CMU apparatus bay for working on up to two fire engines at the same time. The apparatus bay will also be used for ladder training up to a door and windows on the second-story mezzanine. SVFD is in the process of potentially adding a burn tower to this project, details to follow.

Recently completed milestones:

  • Steel topping out was in October
  • Concrete pours finished before winter weather
  • All CMU (Concrete Masonry Unit) walls built
  • Building is dried in (i.e., the outer structure has been completed sufficiently to protect from the elements)

Current work in progress:

  • Metal roofing and siding
  • MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) rough-in
  • Interior insulation and sheetrock
  • Door frames
  • Floor polishing

Upcoming work:

  • Breaking ground on the training tower
  • Asphalt
  • Fencing
  • Door installation
  • Interior finishing
