We’re loving the Meet the Team Monday post series on social media where we can introduce you to new staff and get to know our existing team. So we thought it’d be nice to round up all the staff featured each month in a blog post to have on our site. We hope you enjoy learning more about our team too!
Get to Know Garco: Meet the Team Monday October Featured Team
DUKE BIRCHALL – IRONWORKER SUPERINTENDENT
Ironworker Superintendent Duke Birchall, pictured here with his family, has been with Garco for 16 years and is currently working at the T-Mobile Data Center project in East Wenatchee. As superintendent, Duke enjoys problem solving and helping others through the variety of challenges and conflicts on a daily basis. He says, “The position also provides the opportunity to work with a variety of trades and see a project through from start to finish. My career at Garco has allowed me to advance from an apprentice to superintendent through continuous experience, education, and training. I appreciate that Garco has a family-friendly culture and has supported my personal and professional growth.”
Outside of work Duke enjoys spending time with his wife and twin girls. They like to go camping, hunting, fishing, and … in a normal year they like to go to Seattle to watch the Seahawks. In years past, Duke and his wife volunteered with search and rescue with their bloodhounds for Spokane county. Duke also shares, “In my much younger, and possibly fitter days, I rode bulls and also obtained my pilot license.”
AUTUMN RICE – PROJECT ADMINISTRATOR
Project Administrator Autumn Rice, pictured on the left, works at the Spokane office and has been with Garco just over a year. Autumn enjoys how great everyone she gets to work with is. She says, “I am new to the construction world so this past year has been full of learning experiences and everyone at Garco has been amazing to work with.”
Outside of work Autumn loves spending time with friends (pictured here with her best friend Mindi on the right) and family. From Ione, WA, Autumn tries to get home for family game days as often as she can. She is also always up for an adventure and will road trip anywhere. Autumn says, “It’s amazing the little things you find along the way. Now that we’re moving into the fall season though, which is my favorite, you will probably find me reading a new book or listening to a true crime podcast because they are my obsession.”
MATT MUCKENTHALER – SITE ENGINEER/GENERAL FOREMAN
Site Engineer/General Foreman Matt Muckenthaler has been with Garco for 18 years and is currently working at the Ellensburg Elementary Schools projects. Matt says, “Working for Garco has always been a great experience for me. I love being involved with such diverse, challenging and high profile projects across the Northwest. Also being able to work with and assist some of the best superintendents and upper management this line of work has to offer is incredible.” He also thinks the family atmosphere at Garco is second to none!
Outside of work, Matt enjoys skiing, boating, and riding motorcycles with the family. Matt says, “Over the years I’ve also enjoyed coaching my kids’ soccer, baseball, football and Lacrosse teams which has kept me hopping.”
GERROD MAJESKI – ESTIMATOR
Estimator Gerrod Majeski, pictured with his family, works in the Spokane office and has been with Garco for four years. Gerrod enjoys the competitive element of bidding projects and finds it rewarding when the Garco team wins a bid or secures a new project. He says, “Garco emphasizes teamwork and integrity, which really allows you to take pride in the work that you do.”
Outside of work, Gerrod and his wife enjoy chasing their two young boys around their new home and property, helping them discover all the adventures of simply “being outdoors.” He says, “You can also find me fishing on Lake Roosevelt during the spring and summertime, and hunting the north woods during the fall.”
