Building community is one of Garco’s core values. This time of year offers many ways to share with those in need and support organizations that assist in that mission. For 41 years, Garco has participated in the Spokane Christmas Bureau. The company also holds a matching donation program with employees as well. Employees can choose to make a donation to the Christmas Bureau (or another charitable organization of their choice) and Garco matches that donation. The company strives to foster a culture of giving and community at all levels.
For 2019, Garco was able to donate a check to the Christmas Bureau for $25,000, of which employees contributed $8,900.
Sierra Heinen, Christmas Bureau Coordinator says, “Local businesses, donors and volunteers make the Christmas Bureau
happen. We could not serve nearly 30,000 individuals and families without them. This support also allows us to provide the opportunity for everyone who visits the Christmas Bureau to have wonderful Christmas memory with their family.”
Thank you to our generous staff for your spirit of giving this season and supporting the amazing community in which we live, work and play. Total employee contributions to charitable organizations, including the Christmas Bureau, was $14,710.
Additional organizations that employees choose to donate to include Ken Olley children education fund, Toys for Tots, Meals on Wheels, Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, Naomi Community, Spokane Valley Partners, Spokane Veterans Home, Fisher House, Shriner’s Hospital, Union Gospel Mission, Priest River Animal Rescue, Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, Camp Stix and St. Jude’s.
Garco President Clancy Welsh says, “Our team at Garco would like to thank The Spokesman Review, Catholic Charities, Volunteers of America and all the volunteers that continue to make the Christmas Fund such a vital part of the holiday experience here in Spokane. From all of us at Garco, we would like to wish everyone a safe holiday season and happy New Year!”
Enjoy the holidays!
